Hummmm. At one time this was a car. Well at lest I think all the
parts are off now.
I wire brushed the frame and sprayed some primer on it. I am not
happy with the way it came out. I will have to do it again. Doing it
again becomes a pattern as I progress through this project. |

I am happier with the way this came out. If you
look close (remember you can click the picture to enlarge it) you will see the end of the MIG welder sitting on the
frame. I removed all the plastic plugs that hold the firewall
insulation on the inside of the car (the plugs run from the outside
to the inside). I ground the heads of bolts and welded the bolts
into the firewall to smooth out the firewall. |

The front of the firewall
has been primered. I am now working on smoothing out all the bumps
and seams in the the cowl. |

Nope, I did not remove the steering column. I
am only going to clean up the end of it and paint it. |

I resanded and reshot the primer on the
firewall and cowl. I told you that redoing things got to be a
pattern. If you read on you fine that I redo a lot of things. The
headers went on and off at lest a dozen times. |

See what happens when you do not work on
something for a period of time. You have to dig it out from all the
clutter that gathers around it. |

I taped of the firewall and am redoing the
frame. |

Ok, now that is definitely better. |

The frame is now shot with base coat, clear
coat DuPont ChromaSystem. It came out really nice. |

The firewall has now been shot with base coat,
clear coat DuPont ChromaSystem the color of the car. It is my
intention to also paint the inner fender well the same way. In fact
was I am writing this that is the next project on the schedule. |

Well, I must be making some progress because
this almost looks normal. I have a lot of cleaning to do when this
project is done. |

Steering column brackets and gasket are now in
place, and the power booster has been installed. I clear coated it
in hopes of keep the finish intact as long as possible. |

Now it is time to start working on the other
side of the firewall. |

Now they are painted. The winters really kill
finishes up here in the north. Past owners did drive this car in the
winter snow and salt. |

Now I have to paint the wiper motor. I will
probable regret not replacing it with a new one, but I guess it is
easy enough to get to if it has to be replaced. |
