This Saturday we had another meeting of the Car Nuts.
In attendance was
Don Schafer,
Tom Deyle,
Len Ball, Jim Boehly, and
Donald Goodman.
This is what took place. The Firebird
had the headers bolted up (quite a task), the Exhaust temperate
bungs on the headers had plugs install (stainless steel expensive
plugs!), The data recorder was removed, the ETP were removed, the
shifter was removed ( this had to be done as the transmission now in
the Firebird has a forward shift pattern), the distributor was
installed along with the oil pressure sending unit and low pressure
warning. The front clip was removed from the back yard and installed
on the car.
The finally was a single
elimination Pro tree practice session on the practice tree with a
$5.00 pay out to the winner. Who was the winner, you will have to
come to the next Car Nuts meeting to find out. There will be a $5.00
pay out to the winner at every car nuts meeting.
Next week we should be able
to start the engine. |
 |
The first thing we did was to install all the
header bolts and tighten them. This is not a easy task but was made
simpler as the front clip was not on the car. Hand dexterity was
displayed by Donald Goodman to get this bolt in. |
 |
Tom Deyle
is showing the same dexterity on the passenger side. Take a close
look at the expression on
Don Schafer's
face (your kidding me right, a bolt really has to go in there?) |
 |
The front clip was installed and then after
that job was done
Jim Boehly
showed up. Jim we will make you pay later. Donald seem to like the
drivers side of the car, Don, the body shims' go between the front
clip and the body of the car, no between the bolt and the clip. |
 |
See Jim, I told you would pay. Here you are
the only one working, Lenny is asleep, and both the Dons are
drinking good coffee. |
Next on the list of tasks is to remove the
data recorder, with Lenny as the supervisor (he woke up). |

Here Jim is scavenging the oil pressure
sending unit and low pressure warning unit of the FED engine. |

If you can not succeed from one side try the
other. As the saying goes, try, try again an you will succeed.
The car has a nice rake to it. |
Who is that blurry caractor with the sissy
pony tail and fat stomach |

Time for a committee meeting on putting the
distributor in. |
 |
 |
We called it a day after the meeting and went
an played in the basement. Open time trails were held on the
practice tree, and then a single elimination contest with a $5.00
payout to the winner was held. Can you guess who the winner was.
Come next week to hear the engine run and take part in the second
weekly shoot out with the practice tree. This week it was Pro Tree,
next week will be a full sportsman tree. |
