Step one, take lots of pictures so you can put
it back together the way it came apart (and to keep people that look
at the web site happy).
It is further away from the car now, down in
the basement on the work bench to take it apart and see what we
have.
Here we have an ugly rusted, 30 year mess.
Lets see what the inners look like.
Not good. That was what all those strange
noises I was hearing was about. Actually it did not make all that
much noise. At around 55 MPH I would get a slit vibration. If I let
of and then gently accelerated it would go away.
Well it is apart. It looks like it is a good
thing. Time for new gears, and a dress up of the housing.
