Ok, the sand blasting is done and time to take
it over to the powder coater. I would have done this, in fact I
supplied the powder, but the axle housing would not fit in my oven.

The axle is back from the powder coater.
Although this car is a documented SS, the original engine was not in
the car when I purchased it. The axle and transmission are original
to the car. See the stampings on the axle below. By the way the axle
housing certainly looks better now then when it came out of the car. |

I am not a fan of In-Line-Tube.
I have been burned by them a couple of times. They love to sell you
stuff, but they hate to talk about problems, particularly when they
are theirs!
They do however, sell a complete backing plate assembly. The drums
are from China and you have to create an adjustment "window" in the
drum. |
Was I stated earlier in this project, I wanted
to redo the exhaust to make it quieter. That does not mean that I do
not want to disturb the peace on occasion. To that end I have
purchased a set of electric cut outs. |

New Stainless Steel Emergency Cables. Do you
get the feeling that I am making plans to put the car back together.
I'm just waiting on getting the axle back from
the rear end guy. |

The drive shaft is back from the driveshaft
shop. It has been balanced and new u-joints installed |
 |
Axle housing is back from the rear end guy.
New axles have been installed. The gears that were in the axle were
3:73's and they are not made any more. The ones I had were shot, but
I liked the ratio. He had some used ones so we put those in.

I couldn't leave it alone. I powder coated the
emergency brake parts. |
 |
I did not paint the yoke before sending the
housing out for the rear end work. so now I have taped everything
off so that it can be done. |
 |
The axle is put back together an ready to go
back into the car. |
 |
Springs have been powder coated. I ended up
using the originals over as I could not find aftermarket that were
the same height with the same number of coils. |
 |
The new stainless steel emergency brake cables
have been installed.
What a job, the inner fender well had to be
unbolted to feed the cable through the floor. |
 |
The new Stainless steel brake lines with the
